Video: Space Shuttle Endeavour night launch

Well, the shuttle actually launched this morning — 3:14 a.m. Dallas time – if you want to get technical.
Apparently this is the last night launched scheduled before the Shuttle gets retired after four more daytime launches later this year.
If the Shuttle does truly get shut down and President Obama does cancel the planned Moon and Mars missions, it’s hard to see NASA ever really regaining its luster.
They’ll still send neat robotic missions out to various moons and planets (I very much want to find out if there really are oceans of diamonds on Uranus and Neptune), but if NASA is getting out of the business of launching humans off the planet, well, that feels like a mistake.
Anyway, very cool video. It’s also interesting to see that high-def YouTube videos are now actually sharp enough that you can comfortably watch them in full-screen mode.
